INSTALLATION PROJECTS

Painted Storks An Installation at Bangalore International Airport

With the birds finally settling down at the Bangalore International Airport Ltd, it makes three separate displays of these Painted Stork installations. Four of these are made with more than 600 single-use food packaging containers that pile up in great quantities at the waste collection centres of a metro city. Plastic not only dominates daily household waste worldwide but goes beyond that to pollute the land and water bodies across geographies. This contrast between the exponentially booming plastic use and the shrinking number of painted storks points to the impact of thoughtless human actions on the same ecosystem we are a part of. It was a long and tedious process of conceptualizing and making these birds with help from some amazing friends and organisations. Glad that the installation could have a longer life, also giving the city something to remember me by.

Afsaane A Story Installation on the Walls of Govandi

Afsaane means stories in Urdu. This project was part of an artist residency program of Govandi Art Festival 2023. The festival conducted by Community Design Agency was part of the ‘India/UK Together, a Season of Culture’, taking place in India and the UK from June 2022 to March 2023. The 4 month long residency involved collecting stories from the community of Govandi through workshops and interviews, The stories were then made into a film that was mapped and projected on the walls of the building of Govandi MHADA.

The installation was covered by many news journals in Mumbai.

Pravaas An installation facilitated for Saturday Art Class Symposium

This installation is a collective imagination of the past and future of the cultures we shape every day. Taking the form of a bird in flight, many stories of individual and collective experiences have been woven into a journey(Pravaas) of culture that is often overlooked. Cultures are integral to human existence. As communities evolve to the changing philosophy, technology, and politics, the culture they carry changes form. Be it the arts and music or the way we celebrate our identities, elements that define culture have their own transformation. This installation tries to shed light on this transition of cultures we live in.

A Walk A 360 Degree Projection Mapping

This installation was made as part of an academic module in NID, Ahmedabad by the Animation Film Design Batch under the guidance of Nandita Das. I was part of the conceptualization and execution of the 360 degree projection mapping that involved four projectors set up around the objects that were mapped. The installation was very insightful in exploring space as a medium for storytelling.
